door spring broke - do I need it?

moved my car into the driveway, went back in the house for my wallet, came back and opened the door and heard a snapping sound, the driver's side door spring snapped in half. Searched the archives and couldn't find anything on it, does that mean I'm the first to break that part of the car?

Does anyone sell these, or do these not normally break? Maybe I'm too rough.

yes, replace it..., unless you want the front edge of the door wrinkled :shock:

It's a common thing to break, I have sold hundreds over the years. Currently I am out of stock on new assemblies, but I do have some used ones http://www.fiatplus.com/front-door-check-strap-pr-292278.html
I also might be able to supply just the part that breaks, but you need to take the entire thing apart to change just the spring...
