Engine cutting out

Car is 1981 with fuel injection.

When I hit a sharp bump, the engine stops briefly. Sometimes it is only for a fraction of a second. A few times it has been a full second or longer. Other things, like the radio, are not affected.

Where should I look for the cause and cure?

Did you notice the tach behavior? I ask because it's a good diagnostic tool. If the tach needle drops quickly when this happens, it means the ignition is cutting out. If the needle slowly lowers, then look at the fuel system.

It sounds like it is the former, the ignition. Look at the wires that piggyback on terminal (1) of the coil. If it's loose, tighten the connector gently with pliers. If it breaks, replace with ring terminals or new tab terminals. Don't combine them into one terminal though, you want to be able remove them separately if needed.
