Regarding the 'straps' holding the tank in place - are they made of a material which degrades over time, i.e. are they likely to disintegrate when removing the tank? And is so, are they easily replaced....If you can get the rear of the car up a bit, it is pretty easy to remove the tank. There are two straps holding it in. Just disconnect the filler hose, and wires and hoses at the sender first. At some point you will want to remove the sender so you might want to put something on those rusty studs to facilitate removing the nuts. It is very hard to see much inside the tank without the sender removed.
