Engine running but not well.

Yeah Eric... yur right, but...

I just did this again last Saturday... with plugs pulled... and rolled the car back (in 4th) while watching the crank pulley... then I would pull it forward again... removing any slop and correctly tensioning the belt.

No problem... simple, and no real stress on me or the engine!

How about a leakdown test?

I dont remember, did you have a vacuum gauge connected yet?

No I don't but how would a valve get chipped when the car hasn't been running?
