The car has a weird "dead spot" between about 2000-2200 rpm. If you try to keep the motor within this range it will just bog out, act like it's running out of gas. If you open up the throttle more it comes back to life. I figured maybe a bad MAF sensor or maybe dirt in the ECU connector. Any ideas?
Otherwise the car drove great. It has little or no rust, tan leather interior (seats shot), Chromodora 3 spoke wheels w/4 plastic covers (he may sell these), and working power windows. However, it had a few PO modifications typical of cheaper cars. Someone had jammed a Ford Tempo radio in the dash. He also DRILLED a huge hole in the top of the rear bumper to accomodate a trailer ball. But what takes the cake is that he SPRAYPAINTED the whole car orange, taking 4 minutes to mask the windows. Whole car- top and engine cover included. It used to be dark blue over silver. Staggers the imagination.

Your guess about the air flow meter is a good possibility.. try moving the flap by hand and make sure it moves smoothly without binding (possible backfire damage)..
Also check the adjustment of the throttle switch. It should "click" on and off just barely off the idle position.. a quick test is to disconnect the switch and see if the problem goes away.
Check the distributor advance mechanism. If it's sticky, it won't advance properly at low speed.
Let us know what you find, sounds like a fun car...
