More having to modify what's supplied when choosing aftermarket products OR re-produced parts that 'kinda work'. :)

My solution to the readily available newly produced alloy valve cover
that is supposed to be a direct fit.

If anyone has seen these...any ideas what the supplied bracket with this cover is for. A 600 model ?

Yes, the linkage bracket/plate that is normally fitted to these is for the 600, set up like the original 600 valve cover cable receiver which looks like this:

Since the shape of the valve cover itself is shared between the 600 & 850, many vendors supply that aftermarket alloy one as fitting both cars (without noting the different linkage/cable receiver needed).

I can't really see what you have because of the metal plate you have on top of the valve cover, but I'm assuming yours is like this one?:

Right on both accounts

Jeff,

Thanks for supplying those links and confirming this one !

I can't say that I have ever seen a 600 up close to witness the throttle setup.

These alloy covers are interesting...in the fact that they have a symetrical radius on the forwardmost corners. Both corners have the same radius.

Uh-oh. The head does NOT. This you probably already know.

There is "just enough" gasket overlap, in the corners, to ensure a seal on the flange of these covers by the slimmist of margins.

It would have been so easy to correct this error in the digital stage of production before they created the molds and cast a bijillion parts.

The conversion bracket pictured will allow the use of the original linkage plate.

...of paramount importance (to me) was not to have any fastener which could shake loose in the valve train. Thus the bridge to the spring perch : )

out for now,
