FIAT to Spin Off Ferrari

Saw that this morning. Chrysler is doing some recalls as well and it feels like a small storm is brewing for Fiat/Chrysler. Hopefully nothing major.
 
Since 1969 Fiat has owned at least part of Ferrari

No need to panic just yet Tim this writing has been on the wall for a while.

Sergio is a very influential man and when as you say the recall seems to have impacted on the brand this is what happens.

The Maranello IPO

Four years ago Sergio Marchionne raised the idea of a Ferrari IPO and the now 'Former Ferrari chairman' Luca di Montezemolo squashed the idea, I recall reading words to the effect with an English translation of 'Over my dead body' being uttered by Luca.

Since the old man ( Gianni Agnelli's ) passing when these two men were elevated to the board in 2003 they have been competing with one another (openly clashing) more recently . Sergio seems to have won and now that Luca has been disposed of it looks like there's nothing to get in the way of Marchionne's plans to raise some cash for his global expansion plans before he pulls the pin in 2018. Reinvigorating Alfa Romeo and Maserati I have read are his priorities, Lancia it seems has been left in the weeds.


Ferrari will put 10 percent of its share on the stock market, so for those of us that will never have the big bucks to own a Ferrari this could be your chance to own part of the company. But now that the accountant (Sergio Marchionne) is in charge, someone who doesn't have the prancing horse flowing through his veins like Luca did, one has to worry the new guy will screw it up. I understand Sergio is not looking for someone within Maranello who can turn the F1 advertising show around.

Anyone interested needs to watch for an announcement on the NY Stock Exchange once the functional 'divorce' from FCA is complete.
