Fixing headlight motors

I have what I suppose unusual problem with the headlight motors on my '74 X; the electrical connections on them rotted away!mg:

Right where the wires exit the back of the "gearbox" the terminals rotted off. Is there any way to fix this and re-attached the wires easily? I have a soldering iron and whatnot, but the remaining metal terminal that is left inside doesn't leave much to solder to. Can you melt out the plastic around them or something? I have the weirdest issues with this car.:wall:

Strangely the motors seemed to function OK, they would raise the lights but not lower them.

Solution.

Drill a small hole beside each terminal and insert the wire through the hole and solder inside on the remainding contact.

Thanks. Simple and effective, now why didn't I think of that?:grin:

I give a it a shot and see if I can avoid buying some new motors.
