Probably one of several approaches but this one works pretty good....and is repeatable.
Terms: " the X's plastic box " is the cover
box which surrounds the gascap.
Note: Searched for a few filler necks at the local
wrecking yard and the one chosen here has just the
right angulation and length.
Needed:
(1) 1980's Nissan 200 SX filler neck and tube
(2) 1 1/4 - 1 3/4 hoseclamps
(3) 1/4-20/28 bolts plus locnuts
(1) BJ weld epoxy
(1) 1/8 tapered pipe plug
Tools:
-Pilot plus 5/16 drill bit
-Permanent felt tip pen
-Stubby flat blade screwdriver or 1/4 drive
rachet/socket same size as hoseclamp pinchbolt.
-Endwrench and socket same size as (3) mounting
bolts.
-hacksaw
-handfile
Method:
1-Remove hangar from filler neck and file flush.
2-Remove vent tube and tap to 1/8 pipe 27 tpi
and install tapered pipeplug wet with BJ weld.
2a- *Option Just pinch the tube off.
3-Trim existing 200 SX tube to 3 inches from
bell end. * Optional a 4 inch length of two inch
tube may be used instead of the inch and a half
which comes off the wrecking yard assembly. In that
case you'd want to get the larger diameter hose clamps
too.
4- Fit tube to neck on gastank.
5- Fit filler neck to tube.
6- Fit the X's plastic body over the filler neck to tube.
7- Rotate the filler neck so that its mounting plate
is parallel to the X's plastic box plate and in line
with delivery into the tank neck. There will be a slight riding condition against the side sheet metal on the X but very slight.
8- Use the felt tip pen to index the filler neck to the X's plastic box piece.
9- Disassemble and bench it. The fun part is next.
Locating Mounting Holes:
1- Locate the flange onto the X's plastic box
perfectly centered and on index.
2- Locate and pilot drill for (3) attachment bolts
on the three natural corners of the existing X's plastic box. Reference the pic on the supplied hyperlink. Note: These holes will be on the outermost periphery of the mounting plate of the 200 SX filler neck. Use extereme caution not to miss the plate here.
3- Assemble filler neck to the X's plastic box using the three bolts and locnuts. Notice the most forward,
or front, bolt on the assembly would be hard to access
with a wrench to tighten from the underside ( when mounted to car ) ?
4- Cut a window to allow for tightening of the forward
bolt. This can be plugged later with a common plug.
Locate the access window on the side of the X's plastic box. I chose a 7/8 diameter circle. An oval would work, rectangle, etc.
Installation:
A- Fit the belled end of the tube to the tank neck
and secure tight with hoseclamp.
B- Fit filler neck to tube and rotate to desired
position. Loosely attach hoseclamp.
C- Fit the X's plastic box over filler neck and rotate
neck as required to align with the three mounting holes.
D- Attach neck to box using the three bolts.
E- Tighten top hoseclamp.
It be done. Pretty easy conversion really.

As far as the locking option, while I was managing apartments, I always had a locking gas cap. Even though there were maybe six or seven upset ex-tenants in as many years, I didn't want to take any chances with sugar or sand in my tank.
And I just replaced the locking cap for the 128 3P, as it always felt like the key was going to snap off in the lock. And that wouldn't have been pretty!<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

As for custom made parts, I have a bunch of them on my racecar. Intake manifold, header, exhaust, torque supressor, shift linkage, fuel injection, camber plates, struts, and on... and on...

Probably one of several approaches but this one works pretty good....and is repeatable.
Terms: " the X's plastic box " is the cover
box which surrounds the gascap.
Note: Searched for a few filler necks at the local
wrecking yard and the one chosen here has just the
right angulation and length.
Needed:
(1) 1980's Nissan 200 SX filler neck and tube
(2) 1 1/4 - 1 3/4 hoseclamps
(3) 1/4-20/28 bolts plus locnuts
(1) BJ weld epoxy
(1) 1/8 tapered pipe plug
Tools:
-Pilot plus 5/16 drill bit
-Permanent felt tip pen
-Stubby flat blade screwdriver or 1/4 drive
rachet/socket same size as hoseclamp pinchbolt.
-Endwrench and socket same size as (3) mounting
bolts.
-hacksaw
-handfile
Method:
1-Remove hangar from filler neck and file flush.
2-Remove vent tube and tap to 1/8 pipe 27 tpi
and install tapered pipeplug wet with BJ weld.
2a- *Option Just pinch the tube off.
3-Trim existing 200 SX tube to 3 inches from
bell end. * Optional a 4 inch length of two inch
tube may be used instead of the inch and a half
which comes off the wrecking yard assembly. In that
case you'd want to get the larger diameter hose clamps
too.
4- Fit tube to neck on gastank.
5- Fit filler neck to tube.
6- Fit the X's plastic body over the filler neck to tube.
7- Rotate the filler neck so that its mounting plate
is parallel to the X's plastic box plate and in line
with delivery into the tank neck. There will be a slight riding condition against the side sheet metal on the X but very slight.
8- Use the felt tip pen to index the filler neck to the X's plastic box piece.
9- Disassemble and bench it. The fun part is next.
Locating Mounting Holes:
1- Locate the flange onto the X's plastic box
perfectly centered and on index.
2- Locate and pilot drill for (3) attachment bolts
on the three natural corners of the existing X's plastic box. Reference the pic on the supplied hyperlink. Note: These holes will be on the outermost periphery of the mounting plate of the 200 SX filler neck. Use extereme caution not to miss the plate here.
3- Assemble filler neck to the X's plastic box using the three bolts and locnuts. Notice the most forward,
or front, bolt on the assembly would be hard to access
with a wrench to tighten from the underside ( when mounted to car ) ?
4- Cut a window to allow for tightening of the forward
bolt. This can be plugged later with a common plug.
Locate the access window on the side of the X's plastic box. I chose a 7/8 diameter circle. An oval would work, rectangle, etc.
Installation:
A- Fit the belled end of the tube to the tank neck
and secure tight with hoseclamp.
B- Fit filler neck to tube and rotate to desired
position. Loosely attach hoseclamp.
C- Fit the X's plastic box over filler neck and rotate
neck as required to align with the three mounting holes.
D- Attach neck to box using the three bolts.
E- Tighten top hoseclamp.
It be done. Pretty easy conversion really.

As far as the locking option, while I was managing apartments, I always had a locking gas cap. Even though there were maybe six or seven upset ex-tenants in as many years, I didn't want to take any chances with sugar or sand in my tank.
And I just replaced the locking cap for the 128 3P, as it always felt like the key was going to snap off in the lock. And that wouldn't have been pretty!<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I also found if you are looking for a "looker" gas cap, the heavy weight 850 chrome screw cap looks great on a X. $35.
