gas tank problem

I have looked threw both my shop manuals and can't find anything on how to pull the tank. I found a clamp on the filler neck and then the 2 brackets underneath, is that it?

Yup, pretty much

Make sure all he hoses and electricals are disconnected on top,
disconnect the hose at the bottom, remove the bottom clamps,
remove the filler neck,
crank up the car a couple feet and start tugging at the tank.
It's wedged in with a soft sound-deadening material.

Good luck!

That's OK - your sig says '74 X1/9

Hose at the bottom? I'll look again but didn't see any hose drum under the car

If you have a '74 (or any early carbed car) you won't have a hose at the bottom - the fuel lines come in at the top. The bottom hose is for the later FI cars. So you undo everything at the top, an dthen there are just these two metal straps underneath the tank holding it in.

Be very damn careful about lifting the car, the rear end has to go high enough to make the whole thing a bit unstable.
