Hand Brake Lever Removal?

Hi Guys,

I am trying to replace both my choke and throttle cables on my 850 spider. I've unbolted the plate that holds the hand brake and choke to the center console but I'm not sure how to disengage the brake cable from the lever. I can't get the plate high enough off the car to see underneath it. I also haven't been able to find any threads online or any info in my shop book on this. Hoping someone out there has done this before and can maybe share with a newbie? Thanks much.

Funny I'm in the middle of doing the exact same thing on my 850 coupe. My next step is to Jack up the rear end of the car so I can get underneath and detach either the brakeside or the center nut if it has one. If that's not necessary I would sure like to hear about it ASAP. I was advised by Flavia man to do the brake and the clutch cables when I had the engine and the transaxel out but I did not foolish me

.
