The solenoid doesn't throw the the gear to engage the fly wheel. I friend of mine told me that the solenoid wire is old and it isn't getting a full voltage to the solenoid when it is warm. To fix this he told me that I needed a FORD starter relay and wire it to give full voltage to the solenoid. Apparently this happens to VW Beetles when they get old too. Input guys.?

I have been "rebuilding" starter solenoids like this since 1966... when a 63 year old mechanic showed me the WAY!
I think he was almost as old as LES... and his name was LES also.
BTW, I have NEVER had the wiring or coils fail me on a regular type solenoid... only the FORD types!
(Les... I'm serious now... not tryin' ta dig ya!!!)
