I guess I am getting back to the grooved rotors thing, where you will take a hit on prep points for grooved rotors because they are not stock. This may be your way around this. I really don't need to improve the brake performance of my racecar as its brakes are very good. I have worked on increasing rear bias for better brake balance and now have what I want. Even hot lapping on road circuits the brakes hold up fine. The only problem I have had with them is when the car sits afterwards. The brakes heat soak and the pedal goes soft for one or two applications, then its back to normal.
I have used grooved pad before. Back when I first started autocrossing it was difficult to find suitable brake pads. Street pads were inadequate and racing pads I couldn't get hot enough. I found a neat trick though. I used Ferodo road racing pads and cut multiple wide grooves in them. This reduced the pads mass and surface area by about half. Now the brake pressure per square inch of pad surface doubled and area to absorb heat was halved. Result, the pads got plenty hot and very quickly. Now I could get them up to operating temperature quickly and they worked fine.
