IDF filters

I am using a foam filter media designed for air conditioners. My Sprint filter used paper elements that are no longer available so I cut out the paper element and replaced it with the AC foam. Fortunately, the frame of the paper filter is made of steel and heavy plastic so it has held up to no longer being a disposable item. I bought the foam at Home Depot. It comes in thin sheets and was not very expensive. It could likely be used with those yellow filter housings above to provide better filtering.

Don do you have a picture or link for the filter material?
Here is the Home Depot page:

They also list a similar product as well:

I bought the product in the first link because it was in stock at the location I was at and the second link product was not. From the descriptions, the first is made of polyester, and the second from nylon. I can't say how well it filters but it will definitely keep the bees and spiders out. It definitely does not filter much of the Weber sounds. The material is only 0.05" so I suppose it could be layered for more filtering. For the amount I drive the car, I was more concerned with having something to keep me from dropping small hardware down the throats with the engine running. I suspect that it is much more effective than a screen.
