searched the archives but could not find a direct answer to this -
I removed the ignition switch today as Isuspected that was causing my intermittent voltmeter readings and dim lights, etc. (Already replace the plastic block and wiring in the fuse box). BTW - would there be a market for a non-conductive metal or synthetic heat resistant plastic version of that box ?

Anyway, the wiring going into the plastic housing on the back of the ignition switch is pretty bad off. Can this plasic housing be disassembled and then rewired? Or do I need a whole new housing or even new switch?

Any ideas?

Thanks -

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Trying to rewire the switch block is unlikely to be fruitful (I'm not saying it can't be done though). The switch IS very easy to replace though as the wires feed down to a single connector.

Even if you can't find a replacement switch it isn't difficult to fabricate a set of switches to replace the functionality. A pair of toggle switches with a push button starter is way up on the cool stakes. The downside of course is that you would no longer need a key to start the car (of course some people see this as a benefit - car thieves included)
