Instrument light bulbs

Snooney

Low Mileage
Working on an 1987 X 1/9 and need the part number and/or source for the smaller of the two push-in type light bulbs that live in the twist off bulb holders in the instrument panel.

stock bulbs are like 5 watts

I'm pretty sure you can them in 8 watts at walmart, there was a bunch o talk bout this on xweb 1.0- old man Tony suggested this- look in "best of". Led replacements are cool too- just a lot o money

Wrong ones Kevin

Tony was referring to the #194 lamps, the larger ones.
Still, I'd use LED's there because they take less energy and give off more light.

8 watts per #194 lamp (actually, I think they were 5 watts because the originals are 3 watts) "times 4 lamps" is nearly 2 amps draw on the harness for just those lights and that's too much IMHO. You'd burn up the dimmer in short order if you didn't keep it at full brightness.

With a full LED complement, the entire cluster will take (every lamp on) less energy than a single #194 bulb.
