Interior Lights - I Forgot

I just took my first drives of the spring. There are no lights on the lower console in the hazard and rear defroster switches area. Should these be lighted? I'm showing my age in that I can't remember from last year!

Yes...

They are illuminated with the fiber-optic lines.
Be sure the lamp is working. (located in the very rear of your center console, around the back)

Keyed power...

At least on my '87, those lights are always on with the key. And they're "controlled" with the center dimmer/rheostat, which can in some cases develop a dead spot.

When mine went out,,

it was usually the fiber optic had pulled out of the plastic socket. I don't remember much of it but I think it plugs into the center area of the consul (low)and plugs in the direction towards the stick shift,??
