its an alfa right?

Yes it is!

And it's freakin beautiful. I want my next Italian car to be an Alfa GTV (also by Bertone). Or a Montreal would do nicely also.

HAHAHAHA! Cute Andrew...

But I think the caption and phrasing should a been...

It's ITALIAN, all right!

HA!

Enjoyed this immensely!

Most definitely.....

Arguably one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Scaglione designed, not to be confused with Scagliettie of Ferrari fame. Alfa race breeding (2 liter V8) that was every bit as exotic as anything else Italy produced at the time, two plugs for cylinder, SPICA mechanical fuel injection, 6 speed trans, etc. This chassis, incidentally, was the basis for the Bertone Carabo, which was Gandini's first, and the first landmark wedge design. Chassis used for many other projects

Aussie type 33

I remember one Lawrence Graham punting around a 'Tasman Coupe' (a T33/4) in the Tasman Cup Champions; the sound of a very angry Alfa 4 liter v8 hurtling around was just beautiful. Inspired me to pedal a twin cam ford escort sometime later; well it's what I could afford. I think Graham owns a Miura these days.

That 'Tasman Coupe' was later sold to an American ... have to go back through the old Racing Car News mags to be sure ...

You and I might have different points of views on Gandini's contributions to the automobile, but I will definitely agree with you as this being the one of the most beautiful cars built. There are many other contenders, but, in my humble opinion this is the most beautiful car ever built.

Not to say there are no other beautiful cars, many of the Pre-War 8C variants could fall on this category. Some might say 250 GTO, or SWB, or Lusso, could fall into this catergory. I also would throw the D type Jag, The Gullwing SL, and the Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic on my short list. Depending on ones taste the original Cord, the 32 Ford, the 57 Chevy, The 63 Stingray/Continental, the 1959 El Dorado, and 1968 Pontiac GTO might go on there too.

However, The Type 33, with its low slung proportions, nice wheel to body relationship, simple yet effective graphics, and beautiful flowing surfaces is already work of art. Meanwhile, the feature that puts this car above the rest is the control of the line that flows from the cowl, around the belt line, up on to the roof, over the driver, back down the A-pillar, and into the leading door cut; Bellissima!

Not to mention to have your ear 20cm from a set of fuel injected Alfa V8 velocity stacks would just make the sound track awesome.

Also, let it be known, If given a choice, i prefer the version with double stacked head lights without the holes behind the front wheel opening.

... you can see the gas squirting into the top of the air horns. I was at Concorso Italiano a few years back, and there were 2 of them. One was started up right as I was standing there and driven to the podium. Very cool! Those doors look awefully fragile, though.

Me too! Most beautiful car ever.
