Lancia 037 front/rear body clips?

Hey all,

I know this is an X1/9 forum but there is a pretty good Scorpion/Montecarlo presence here to, soooo....

Does anyone make 037 front and rear clips? I am not talking about simple fiberglass fender flares here. I’m talking about a complete, one piece fiberglass body shell for front and rear, such as in this pic:

I’m contemplating pure madness here probably. This would not go over the existing bodywork – the existing front and rear of the car would be replaced with tubular subframes a la the original 037.

Anybody got a source? Anybody gone down this road? Anybody want to stage an intervention for me?

Thanks,
Pete

Back in the early Nineties, Ralph DeLibrio was involved in making an 037 replica from scratch, but I don't recall him having any molds.
My friend Todd Radkee in Chico, CA has a set he purchased from Rodger Granthum in MO. Don't think Rodger is making them an more.

Guy Morenhout sells two styles of bodykit, one for a stock length Scorpion and one for the stretched wheelbase of the 037. http://www.abarth-gmr.be/forum/index.php/topic,3398.0.html

These guys are chronicling a nice build: http://www.carteroni.co.nz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8&Itemid=15 They are quick to answer questions and will be selling front and rear sub-frames, not sure about bodywork.

Here is another build in progress: http://mystradale.com/default.aspx

A guy named Martin Kift in the UK has a set of molds from a real 037. I spoke to him a couple years ago about buying a set of panels. http://www.phoenixcarcompany.co.uk/index.html

www.rallyshop.it have ALL the pieces to build an 037 replica, but you'd better have deep pockets... they even make the full front / rear clips in kevlar...

in fibreglass...

front grille ... 73 euro
front spoiler ... 93 euro
double bubble roof ... 140euro
front hood ... 150 euro
door wideners ... 168euro
front inner arches ... 178 euro
rear inner arches ... 178euro
rear sides ... 213 euro
front bumper ... 220 euro
rear bumper ... 220euro
rear spoiler ... 267euro
front lamp pod ... 294euro
rear air intakes ... 300euro
rear clip ... 622euro
front clip ... 622euro
doors (pair) ... 683euro

a mere 4143 euro for the bodykit...plus freight ... in kevlar its even more frightening!

That's the best price I have seen for a full 037 setup. It's hard to see in the pictures but the quality looks questionable.

I'm the owner of the car at http://mystradale.wordpress.com/ formerly mystradale.com.

I would be thankful to anybody who can help me order 037 body parts from rallyshop.it. I tried 18 months ago but was unable to arrange surface shipping. There was the language barrier, but also they couldn't point me to a shipper who was willing to work with a private party. UPS would only do air shipping and due to the size of the parts shipping cost was about 1.5x the price of the parts. lemarcartuning also has these parts

I tried building many of the parts myself, but am not equipped to build a buck, mold, lay up large amount of glass, etc. give me a welder any day.

Are you my long-lost brother? Your project is exactly what I am contemplating, male molding and all. And I did contemplate the sheet metal option as well.

That's some great work on your car, it looks like you only have the rear clip and bumper to do at this point, why stop now? Sick of sanding?

I just bought a set of new Ronal A1 (phone dial) replica wheels from EB Spares in the UK last week for my project. It's nice being able to deal with vendors in the same language. I ordered the wheels Monday morning and incredibly they were on my doorstep Friday afternoon.

I will be following your project closely.

Oh, if you want to get around the language barrier and deal with someone that speaks English (sort of :)), these guys in New Zealand can supply 037 body parts:

If you want to PM me your email I can forward an email from Allen Carteroni which has panel-by-panel prices.

Yeah, there are still reasons why I'd still consider pre-made panels, but mainly sick of sanding and lower quality final results.

I contacted pitlanemotorsports.com. They quoted 135 euros total door to port shipping on the front and rear 037 clamshells. Those shipping charges are surprisingly low to send something that large from Austria to Seattle.

I'm considering an order of the rear body clip and rear bumper with a follow up order if the parts are delivered and the quality is satisfactory. I only found one Internet reference on this company---one dispute which was resolved in the end.

Nice

Nice to see your build is still going and doing so well. I lost track of it quite a while ago so it is great to follow it again. Also being an Audi fan I like your choice of drive train. I am looking for a S3 dsg drive train for one of my scorpions. I also agree with Al's excitement on the cars. Looking forward to seeing how it drives. B.
