Chrysler Group LLC Selects Dealers to Represent Fiat Brand in the U.S.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler Group LLC announced today that it has selected 130 dealers to represent the Fiat brand in the United States.

This group of dealers will be the first to sell the 2012 Fiat 500 (Cinquecento). The Fiat brand marks its return to the North American market today with the reveal of the 2012 Fiat 500 at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.

The dealers appointed in this first phase have plans in place and will be ready to take orders for the 2012 Fiat 500 subcompact. The 2012 Fiat 500 is built in Chrysler Group's assembly plant in Toluca, Mexico. Fiat's 1.4-liter MultiAir four-cylinder engine for the Fiat 500 is produced in Chrysler Group's Dundee, Mich., engine plant.

I have been calling Kent Putnam (Putnam Subarau, etc) in SF and Burlingame and they have no idea they will be a Fiat dealership. I even harrased them today when I saw this post and they still don't know.

'tards. I am really stoked about getting a 500. Anyone going to try a Fiat trade in?

Only one in Missouri

but it's just about 30 minutes from my house. Guess I better get over there in the 86. I will ask for the service manager. ;)

3 in Michigan, all in Detroit, all within about 8 miles of each other. None anywhere else. Hmmmmm, just lost a lot of interest.

That would be because no one at the dealer except for the owner/general manager. You can always head to Concord--that happens to be where I am getting my Prima Edizone!

I suppose I can make the LONG trek to Concord - if I have to ;)

Maybe its just me, but I would think at this point the GM's/owner-operators would be sharing the news with their employees? Create some buzz?

Maybe I am just TOO excited to get a 500 and I think everyone else should be as well.

-Tim

Yeah, we have a Mini dealer here in Grand Rapids, but not one Fiat dealer in the whole western side of the state?

Poor choice.

Between that and the lack of a six speed manual, my PrimaEdizione order is definitely in jeopardy.

Anyone want number 222?

Guys, remember

that these are only the first 130 dealers. They hope to add almost 100 more very very soon.

According to things I have read, these 130 had their constructions plans and finaces ready to go and were ready to place their first dealer allocation order. They had staffing and marketing plans and a seperate showroom to be made into a "Fiat Studio" (which I think is what they are going to call the showrooms).

So there are going to be many more announcements, most likely in places the first list doesnt cover. Hang in there!

One thing I noticed on the lists...the dealerships apparently are all ging to be called "Fiat of.....xxxxxx". My closest dealership for example is Fiat of Clearwater, Fl. (None yet in MUCH bigger Tampa, though I am SURE that the former brand new Saturn dealership on Fletcher is going to be Fiat soon). I think this is a really good marketing idea, gives a consistent approach and enables a global or national feel, instead of Jim McKenzie Fiat Garage, Bob Brown Italian and French Auto Village, Tony's Fiat Barn and More, or Mac's Classic Imports. I like how Soave is doing this.

Poor choice in Maryland, maybe

Years ago I had a friend who was Chrysler's Mid-Atlantic customer service rep (i.e. the Head Guy In Charge Of Customer Complaints) and he said the dealerships with the greatest number of complaints were those in the DarCars group, owned by John Darvish. I see from the list that the College Park, MD Fiat dealership is going to be run by the same guy. I hope he's gotten his company's act in gear.

Personally I think that Fiat's entry in the US market (if it happens at all) is going to be a dismal failure. Call me a pessimist, if you like.

Cool - One is close to me in Austin, TX

It's going to be in a upscale outdoor shopping-living complex called the Domain (Neiman Marcus that sort of thing). Dealer hopes to have it ready by February. Can't wait to get a test drive seeing that I probably can't buy one while I'm unemployed  Guess I'll have to wait until I get a new job and can buy the Abarth or the Convert :headbang:

BTW - Does any site have the specifics of the different models? Seems the sport model is only 16" wheels and fog lights vs. 15" and no fogs? Does the sport have any suspension upgrades, etc.?

You are correct--these were the first 130 markets where current Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealers were invited to submit proposals. Fiat chose additional markets--but obviously were not impressed with some of the submitals from the dealers (ie the one in Tampa). A lot of dealers did not want to do what Fiat has asked them to do.

Fiat is currently receiving additional proposals from additional dealers--including those that are not current Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealers.

Finally, with only one car in 2011-too many dealers selling the one model would be a bad thing. Word from the inside is that there will be 3 Alfa models sold at the Fiat dealerships by the end of 2011.

thought this was cool

Was looking at the list of Canadian dealerships FIAT CANADA
and thought it was cool when checking out the dealership closest to me and see the fiat logo on their site dealer

To bad its a 2 hour drive from me.

I had some "bodywork" done at a DarCars branch. Suffice it to say, that I will never go there for anything. Gaithersburg isn't too far away.
On the other hand, it's nice to see Alfredo Gulla, formerly of Alfredo's Foreign Cars (Alfa) in Larchmont NY, get a dealership.
