Minilifts and such ...

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of mini-lift.

I found a couple with light searching, this one and one called the Seicar lift.

Don't know pricing or availability in the US yet.

Looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen in the USA!

I simply cannot imagine anyone in the good ol US of A even beginning to think that they could sell that here without getting sued by Mr. "I-thought-it-would-hold-up-my-F450-Superduty".

In fact, bring it on... I've got a 2003 suburban. (and I bet I can find me a Lawyer!!!)

Lawsuits and such

Yes, I did think about that, but considering the absolute insanity one can find DIYers doing in trying to lift a vehicle without investing thousands for a darn near shop quality hydraulic lift ... I don't know how much of an actual risk there is ...

They print instructions with limits, you try to lift that big honking truck with a mini lift, I think the fault falls on you? Poor choice of words ...

But, regardless, doesn't this look very useful???

Jeff

Jeff... this looks like a MOTORCYCLE lift...

... and good for about 600 pounds.

I don'tthink I would get UNDER it though, regardless... (even if I could fit!)

Another One - EZCarLift

This one has a following with some BMW guys and the Miata crowd, but it is pricey ... over $1K ...

Jeff

I don't think it even gets high enough for a proper engine/trani removal does it? ( I couldn't sit thru the entire video so maybe they have a taller version)

As soon as the patent runs out, I think we will see this thing for 1/2 that price don't you think? I do like the simplicity that is for sure. Something like this would be perfect for my cramped garage.

Wow, nice product....

For a thousand dollars, I was ready to go to the website and buy one. But for two thousand plus optional equipment costs, I will only dream.....

Actually its about $2K... and up depending on options. It is however, IMHO, the best home hobbyist car lift system.

I currently have a "KwikLift"...
http://www.kwiklift.com/features-all.htm

Bought it about 5 years ago and have gotten a lot of use out of it. Down side is it is heavy and you need to buy cross bridges to do wheel in the air service. Takes up a lot of space too... If the EZ Car Lift would have been available then I would have bought it instead.

jack

it looks like a scissor lift but might be tough to use on a x1/9 with the coolant pipes under it. the one I would use would be a rotisserie. take the bumpers off and pull the engine from the side hook the stand to the engine wile in the car. would be very easy to put back too and much less money than a lift. just a idea

For those of you that have never heard of this place... it's a steal!

They have the lifts this post references, plus lots of other types (4 and 2 post).

My cousins have bought several of the 4 post lifts. They are cheap, safe, and work well (for the money).
