My plan is to clean it up a bit and sell it... but I must say, due to Jeff Zucker's generousity, and my boss' permission... I'm off to a great start.
I spen yesterday tearing into the engine compartment and fully removing all the remaining smog stuff... I think the engine was swapped out ad the pan and hear were definately painted separately... and gaskets are clearly shown. The engine appears to have CA smog struff still on it in a 49 state car.
Originally from Jackson Tennesse... it spent two years in Glendale CA from 94 to 96 and then Jeff bought it... drove it 50 miles to Thousand Oaks... and then last week I drove it 50 miles to Santa Clarita!
I'll keep ya all posted as to my progress... It sure feels like I'm a REAL enthusiast now that I possess more than one... Hmmmmmm!

I spent the day carousing and finding almost everything I need...
I bent over and crawled under the front end and found the right 1/3 of the grill missing... At Giant Wrecking today... I found a grill with the left half damaged... so Derrick let me have it.
I zig-zagged my cuts with the old Dremel tool and now have it "Super-glued" together with some silicone glue for a backing. Tomorrow I'll see what additional reinforcement it might need... paint it, and re-install it!
I also needed a window crank and a RR rear bumber end...
Manana I'll finish up the engine compartment...
Oughtta keep me bussy for a couple a weeks until I feel its PRESENTABLE and then I'll get back to ya...
(I really wanna keep it... or keep it in the family... but I don't think I'll be able to... its such a gem in the rough!)

I have NEVER named my cars... except for a T-Bucket I started in the late 60's... and everyone named cars back then... especially hand built ones, or radical customs... I saw a T named Grandpa's Iron and liked the concept... of Tony's Iron. Just never finished it... sold it for my son's college tuition after 19 years...
The SECOND owner has had it 11 years... its gonna be 30... and never been on the street!
He's done a great job... meticulous as hell... I'm afraid he might not make it to the road... as it could EASILY be renamed Grandpa's Iron II.
If yur so inclined... you can try coming up with names for license plates... I like... and its still available in CA, "BABY 308", after the Ferrari of the '70's it emulated... but ya gotta be an Italian car buff to understand it.
The best I can come up with at 0700 today is Salt and Pepper... and that congered up SALT PETER... which is the theoretical ingredient in Military Food to keep the boys in line... Yur too young for that too, aren't ya?

My plan is to clean it up a bit and sell it... but I must say, due to Jeff Zucker's generousity, and my boss' permission... I'm off to a great start.
I spen yesterday tearing into the engine compartment and fully removing all the remaining smog stuff... I think the engine was swapped out ad the pan and hear were definately painted separately... and gaskets are clearly shown. The engine appears to have CA smog struff still on it in a 49 state car.
Originally from Jackson Tennesse... it spent two years in Glendale CA from 94 to 96 and then Jeff bought it... drove it 50 miles to Thousand Oaks... and then last week I drove it 50 miles to Santa Clarita!
I'll keep ya all posted as to my progress... It sure feels like I'm a REAL enthusiast now that I possess more than one... Hmmmmmm!

I spent the day carousing and finding almost everything I need...
I bent over and crawled under the front end and found the right 1/3 of the grill missing... At Giant Wrecking today... I found a grill with the left half damaged... so Derrick let me have it.
I zig-zagged my cuts with the old Dremel tool and now have it "Super-glued" together with some silicone glue for a backing. Tomorrow I'll see what additional reinforcement it might need... paint it, and re-install it!
I also needed a window crank and a RR rear bumber end...
Manana I'll finish up the engine compartment...
Oughtta keep me bussy for a couple a weeks until I feel its PRESENTABLE and then I'll get back to ya...
(I really wanna keep it... or keep it in the family... but I don't think I'll be able to... its such a gem in the rough!)

I have NEVER named my cars... except for a T-Bucket I started in the late 60's... and everyone named cars back then... especially hand built ones, or radical customs... I saw a T named Grandpa's Iron and liked the concept... of Tony's Iron. Just never finished it... sold it for my son's college tuition after 19 years...
The SECOND owner has had it 11 years... its gonna be 30... and never been on the street!
He's done a great job... meticulous as hell... I'm afraid he might not make it to the road... as it could EASILY be renamed Grandpa's Iron II.
If yur so inclined... you can try coming up with names for license plates... I like... and its still available in CA, "BABY 308", after the Ferrari of the '70's it emulated... but ya gotta be an Italian car buff to understand it.
The best I can come up with at 0700 today is Salt and Pepper... and that congered up SALT PETER... which is the theoretical ingredient in Military Food to keep the boys in line... Yur too young for that too, aren't ya?
