What can I use to "melt away" the black deposits inside my FI Plenum?
The thing's coated on the inside and I'd like to clean it up if at all possible.

Suggestions? Brands? Thanks in advance.

Spraying it out with carb or brake cleaner should work. If not, you could pour some Berryman B-12 or acetone into it and prop into various positions to let it soak.

I've heard of people using oven cleaner for stuff like this but I've never tried it.

Bead blasting would work if you're bound and determined to get it spotless.

Or, you could take it to a machine shop and let them put it in their parts cleaner.

Carb cleaner and brake cleaner are both good, usually brake cleaners are gentler on plastic and rubber bits.

There are some really nice non-chlorinated brake parts cleaners out there that are slightly better for the environment and the user.

This might also be a good excuse to finally get a 20 gal. parts washer and fill it with paint thinner. Works great for all kinds of stuff.

ADVICE huh... you want some advice...

I'll give you some advice...

See a PROFESSIONAL at least twice a week... How's that for some advice! Geez!

Just make sure you think about .

Just make sure you think about the fresh new spots forming as you drive down the road.

That way you can work a weekly cleaning regimen into your schedule.

Take car and have fun,

Bob.
