I've owned my '79 since '83 and it was originally purchased for my wife. A year later she totalled a 4 door Accord with it and she and the car survived beautifully... (RF Fender, nose piece, Light pod and bumper... small scar for her...)
Anyway, she didn't want it anymore and I drove it for over 100K to work and back... shelved it for 7 years and resurrected it in about the same way you did yours!

He had picked it up for his son some time ago and never touched it (his son didn't like it). I had never seen one before, and had to have it. It is black with blue interior. I made the guy an offer of $500, and he took it. The car is in great shape for being stored as long as it has, and living in Maine (salt in winter chews through cars up here. It was never driven in the snow). I am currently getting it road worthy (tires, a couple of no good relays, etc. Thank god for the Haynes manual) and I will be off and running. I was excited to find this forum, and already have had several of my questions answered by other posts. Glad to be part of the group.

You don't have to do all that Les did or with all the skill he did it with... but if your want some DECENT headlights, you will need to install TWO relays in the existing wiring path.
Expecially in the "Cabot Coves" of Maine... this is as important as having good brakes!
Parts, wire and connectors can all be had for 20 bucks or less... (NOT THE WAY LES DID IT!!!) and after YEARS of messing around with additional lights and fusing and on and on... this is the CURE! It also frees up the rest of the circuitry with a higher static voltage so everything else works better.
If you decide to go ahead... I, or Les can give you specifics... Frankly, he oughtta go ahead and write a "Circuit Description" to go along with his schematic!
As for the car story... I wish I had been there... I woulda made the entire home-sale conditional on the seller GIVING you the car PLUS $500.00 to take it off his hands!

You don't have to do all that Les did or with all the skill he did it with... but if your want some DECENT headlights, you will need to install TWO relays in the existing wiring path.
Expecially in the "Cabot Coves" of Maine... this is as important as having good brakes!
Parts, wire and connectors can all be had for 20 bucks or less... (NOT THE WAY LES DID IT!!!) and after YEARS of messing around with additional lights and fusing and on and on... this is the CURE! It also frees up the rest of the circuitry with a higher static voltage so everything else works better.
If you decide to go ahead... I, or Les can give you specifics... Frankly, he oughtta go ahead and write a "Circuit Description" to go along with his schematic!
As for the car story... I wish I had been there... I woulda made the entire home-sale conditional on the seller GIVING you the car PLUS $500.00 to take it off his hands!

(Get use to it... my DMV clerk asked me if I knew what the rear window defogger was for on a FIAT? I said I think so... but she expressly said, what are they PRIMARILY used for on a FIAT? - - - So you don't freeze your fingers off pushing them in the snow.... That was after I told her I wanted to register my car... and she said, WHY?)
