Old thread, lost pics

The post you point to was part of a project Mac was leading in an effort to manually migrate archive content from Xweb 1.0 onto the Xweb 2.0 platform. As you can see, it didn't work well in many instances. You can view that thread with less encoding errors over in the Xweb 1.0 Archives. The pictures are still dead, but the text is easier to read.

I don't think photobucket was even in existence when the original post was created. In the early Xweb 1.0 days many of the photo were hosted on private servers by Xweb folks kind enough to offer up space to Xweb members. Of course, as those members left or shut down the servers, the pictures were lost. Over time we switched to public companies (e.g. Imageshack, Photobucket, PostImage, et al) that offered free hosting... until they held all our photos hostage. Now on Xweb 3.0 we host the pictures locally with the forum contents. Hopefully we can keep everything alive this time.
 
Thanks Jim. It was the pictures that I was mainly interested in with that particular thread. Great point about its age and the hosting services at that time. :)
