What it looks like.

This version, of two, contains the fuel return port.

Why clean the carburator jets ?
Debris shouldn't make it to the jets to begin with, right ?

Found a new plastic mesh filter/strainer/sock to replace
the OEM type brass screen which contained a hole.

This repair is good for ten horsepower I figure...ha ha

The OEM tube fossilized and was replaced by
modern fuel rated tubing.

Surprisingly, the rheostat winding and arm contact have very little
wear and the resistance tested good. The preload on the contact
spring must be set 'just-right' : )

Out of curiosity what was the source of the new filter element?

Is it the much larger outer element or the smaller inner? Any worries about the larger diameter holding the intake up out of the pool of fuel (sludge :) ) at the bottom of the tank?

Element

Hey Karl,

The source of the element was an online purchase from a vendor.

Unfortunately, not a FIAT vendor. This is an element fitted to Ford Mustang model years 65-73. It is made of a micromesh plastic.

No worries on the slurry pickup as the intake port remains at the very same station as original.

The additional size of the filter does not present any difficulty when fitted in the fuel tank.

Tank void of debris, this screener, the normal in-line cannister filter, and the filter fitted within the carb.....we should have a pretty clean fuel run I figure. : )
