That was unexpected...
A little over a year ago I posted how my Sons and I were working to get my '81 back on the road after it had sat for many years due to my health issues. Sadly, the task was too great for the time I have to give to the car, so I have decided not to go any further with my efforts. What I have done, however, is what any self-respecting X-head would do- I bought another one that needs nothing.
I am now the proud owner of another '81 X, sold to me by forum member Hiwheel (it was in the FS section here on Xweb as a Craigslist ad out of Bridgeport WV). I cant say enough about how great the condition of this car is. Everything is in fantastic shape, and many important maintenance items like timing belt and tensioner, new hoses, rebuilt trans, new tires, clutch, and on and on, have already been done very recently! This car needs nothing! As a bonus, it came with a treasure trove of additional new parts, including new struts and springs, cables for the engine cover and rear trunk, CV boots, and much more. Hiwheel was even gracious enough to deliver the car so as to save me the hassle of transporting it.
My old '81 isn't going anyplace, as the next generation of Xhead in the family has laid claim to it. I have all the items necessary to repair it, I just didn't have the time. My 17y.o. does, so the task falls to him. My youngest son didn't put up too much of a fight for it, as he is occupied with restoring his '77 Ford Bronco.
Here's a few photos I snapped this evening...
