Scorpion seat belt pictures?

Pete Whitstone

True Classic
Hi All, it's been a decade since I took the seat belts out of my project, and now I'm not sure how they go back in. Outside of the short receiver on the central tunnel, the system appears to have 3 attachment points. 2 reels and one metal loop. Not sure what goes where, anybody have some pictures? Thanks!

The shoulder harness belt goes thru a “slot” w/a surround on the rear window
deck. If you wish to call it that. Above the upholstered firewall panel. Beneath
that is where the spring loaded reel resides. In order to do a through job you
must must remove/unleavened the belt from the buckle. Apply light weight
gun oil on the reel mechanism/spring then re-thread the belt on the buckle.
Its a thankless task. Particularly getting the belt back into the buckle.

Thanks for the response, David. You're talking about the exact area I need to know about - what's behind that slot in the upholstered panel.

Anybody have a picture of what's behind there? Specifically how that reel is mounted?

To get at the reels you carefully remove the interior rear quarter window plastic
surrounds w/courtesy lights. Expect the plastic to be brittle. Then remove the
upholstered rear window deck/parcel shelf/panel. You might have to remove the
“firewall” panel too. I forget. Now you’ll see the spring loaded belt reel housings.
They’re obviously SECURELY bolted in place. Oil the reel mechanism to assist,
restore the spring’s retraction action/function. Before you replace the panels
dousche, spray the outside of the rear window forcefully w/a garden hose.
Check for interior water leaks. Scorp/Monte rear window seals are famous for
leaking. This whole process takes a lot of time. And patience . . .

Harness webbing expires from competition use at usually 5 years. Original 47 year old webbing and mechanisms there is only one way to test.
