I am looking at swapping my OEM X1/9 seats with a pair Recaro like seats that came out of a E30 BMW.

Can I do this easily without dirlling holes into the floor of the car?

What do I need to do? Where do I get rails etcs? Any other suggestions I should look into, i.e. get seats from another car bacause they fit?

If not, you might be better off just having your stock seats redone with a little more "bucket" added. I put a set of Sparco Milano seats in mine and had to do some serious shoe horning to get them to fit. I had to remove the recline adjustments and they fit sooo tight that they do not move back and forth without loosening the mounting bolts. I also had to remove the stock seat belts and install a race harness. Luckily, I'm the only one the car has to fit, so the seat is adjusted for me only.

The seats were also much heavier than the stock ones.

The seats DO feel good when you're strapped in the car and screaming through a turn with your bottom firmly planted in the center of the seat, but there are some sacrifices... Other seats may fit in the car better than mine did.
