shipping rims from Canada

I am trying to figure out shipping costs to Australia from Canada for four rims. Canada post quotes me around $700 and UPS quotes me around $1000!!!???? so I got a quote for just one rim and it can range from $100-200 per rim!!! am I doing something wrong??? has the cost of shipping gone up this much in the last year or so??????? wtf...
 
this is what I do

Get 4 wheel boxes and ship each wheel separate via Canada Post. I just received some delta wheels from the UK this way and I have sent Daytonas to AU that way as well. I found that the cheapest way.
