Shoulder belt anchor extension?

Trying to install shoulder belts in my 76 and there are shoulder belt threaded anchors but unike later models they are just above the rear shelf. This means the shoulder belt anchor loop is set too far back to use with inertia reel type belts. I would like to make about a 5" strap exetension for the should belt anchor. Has anyone done this?

Move the anchor

The forces on the shoulder strap during an accident can be huge. I think the only safe solution is to remove the vinyl from the targa par and weld in an anchor point where you need it.

Yea but

the Schrott (I know I didn't get the spelling right) harness belts come with metal extender straps for the inertia reel on the shoulder belt...and that's a German TUV approved anchor system. Unfortunately these harness belts don't work on an X, not enough space behind the seats.
