So, how do you shoot a video in an X?

I just recently picked up a great new DSLR that shoots video, and was thinking of doing one of a great road/great drive in town.

How are you video experts securing your video camera in an X so it doesn't wobble, fall down or fall out of the car? What's the secret?

Hey Jim, I'm no expert but figured I'd share my experience. I got a cheap suction cup mount that holds to the inside of the windshield for use in autox. I only use a smaller point and shoot camera though, not a DSLR, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it for a DSLR. Mine is just a cheap one, with one suction cup and an adjustable arm. It wobbles some, but I don't have any fears of it falling off.

There are tons of these available on ebay or amazon, and depending on your budget I think you could find something sturdy enough for the DSLR. I've seen some at events with three or for cups and very sturdy linkage & camera mounts. If you do some searches on ebay or a search engine for car camera mount, windshield camera mount, suction cup camera mount and the like I'd think you'd find something. Maybe even "DSLR Car camera mount"?

That's also the mount you get from Hero.

I use it attached to the windshield. I think it would work only with light cameras like the Hero.

Regards,

This is the actual mount that I have been using for about 5 years now.. I have had it on a Lamborghini at 190 miles an hour and it didn't fall off. And it had a Sony handy cam attached to it. I don't know how much those weigh....

Here I am using it attached to the inside of the door glass of the Multipla.... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdg7vcEB9mU"]YouTube- M4H02087.MP4[/ame]
