Can you imagine how much crap the fighter pilot got from his buddies on shooting down an unarmed balloon!!
Think his crew chief will paint a balloon on the side of his fighter?
The first shoot-down off South Carolina was by a plane from the 1st TFW, Langley Va., and has a better than even chance of being from the 94th FS, a unit that has a history going back to WW1; Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker chose their emblem, that they still use today.
So he'd be from a unit with a long heritage of balloon busting.
