I have two large wires with ring terminals that appear to go on the + post of the starter. There is also a male spade terminal and a threaded post on the solenoid. I think my red wire hooks to the spade terminal, but ??. Anyone with wiring info on a carbed 79 please help! Thanks

Your starter should be wired as follows: all wires connect to the rear of the solenoid (obviously) - the topmost threaded terminal should be connected to the big (green) wire which comes from the battery, also the black wire which goes on to the alternator should be on the same terminal. The opposite threaded terminal should be connected to the field coil wire (the one which goes directly inside the starter motor), and finally the red wire(s) with a blade terminal should be plugged in to the blade receptacle located directly beneath the topmost threaded terminal on the solenoid. Your starter should be wired as follows: all wires connect to the rear of the solenoid (obviously) - the topmost threaded terminal should be connected to the big (green) wire which comes from the battery, also the black wire which goes on to the alternator should be on the same terminal. The opposite threaded terminal should be connected to the field coil wire (the one which goes directly inside the starter motor), and finally the red wire(s) with a blade terminal should be plugged in to the blade receptacle located directly beneath the topmost threaded terminal on the solenoid.
