Subaru Motor?

Anyone considered a Subaru boxter motor? A friend of mine put one in a 914 and its crazy, plus with the weight being lower in the chassis it makes it handle more like a gocart. I have seen the rotory, and honda swaps, but a Subaru swap would be nice.

914 was boxer to begin with..........

and mounted 'longitudinally' as opposed to transverse, so a Subaru would be a clever choice for that car. For an X, I think you'd basically be cutting the back half of the car off and starting over.

You could probably make it work with a bit of changes to the firewall and fuel tank setup. I saw an X with a Mazda 13B turbo rotary driving a porsche 914 transaxle a couple years ago at an autocross. It had a lot of fiberglass in the body with wide sticky tires and went like crazy. If I remember right it set a faster time than the Formula SAE car I was there with. A turbocharged subaru motor from a wrx or an sti would probably make an X go like crazy as well.
