The Abarth Experience!

True Classic
Earlier this month I got to do the Abarth Experience day of Abarth driving, and it was a blast! For every Abarth purchaser, you get this for free, and they hold it at several locations around the country. Chrysler does the same thing if you buy one of their SRT vehicles too.

We got some time on a road course, did a small autocross competition, and then another similar thing in a head-to-head competition. Along with the free breakfast and lunch, a great time was had by all 50 or so of us on August 8th. I signed up for the day at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet IL, and they have one more set of dates this year at Texas Speedway in October.

Some general shots of the day are on my Facebook page, you can see them at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/...945.1073741835.1571797340&type=1&l=4e5f819f4f

One of the other nice features was that they gave each driver a USB stick, and for every time we jumped in to drive, we could plug it into their onboard gizmo, and take home video that includes driver cam and front view, along with some data such as mph, rpms, location on track, etc. Nice little thing to have, along with a free Abarth travel mug.

As a bonus, I did about mid pack in the autocross, but got a cool Abarth polo shirt for winning the head-to-head thing. Another great reason to get an Abarth!

Looks like fun. Seems there is a bit of a price equalizer in there relative to buying the 500T.

Is it a real track or was it a kart track?

Any real track time?

Most envious.

we were on one of the two tracks at Autobahn Country Club, although each run was limited to two laps. All in all we did about 7 of those runs during the day. It was basic track instruction on straight line braking, where to apex the corner, swing out to use all the road, where to get back on the gas, etc.

Nothing new to folks that have done track time before, but to folks like me that had not done it, it was a lot of fun.

Here is the one video I put on Facebook, this is my last track run with the instructor, so I'm in 3rd gear once out on the track, top speed of about 86mph on the long straight.
