The crack is gone.

Okay this is a cross post from the Fiat Page, but I want to brag on both websites.

My new X1/9 had a crack in the dash. I hate having a cracked dash or bad sun visors. I see these problems every time I drive.

I used a local vinyl repair guy to fix some tears in my Mitsubishi 3000GT Spyder. He came to my office yesterday and fixed my dash in the car.

He said the little bit of shiny will go away in a couple of weeks. $100 and the dash looks like new and I did not have to remove everything or anything.

A great fix to a common problem.

Links are good except...

You have to copy and paste, replacing the "*" with the "at" symbol which is automatically changed by the forum software.

I give up on pictures. I can not even post a link to a picture

I tried to change * to a * and the software keeps changing it back. Now I just feel like *#$%^*##*& to all pictures.

If you want to see the pictures go to the Fiat page. I give up ever posting pictures here.:mallet::mallet::mallet::mallet::mallet::mallet::mallet::mallet::mallet::mallet:

I want to know HOW he did that. I guess it's all in the technique, that would seem like by far the easiest way to solve that issue.

I watched him a little bit

It took him almost 3 hours to fix the crack. He carefully sanded off the raised part of the crack and filled the crack just below the level part of the dash with a compound he mixed up himself.

Than he mixed different color vinyls together to get the correct shade of black and filled the dash to even an couple more times letting it dry and sanding until it looked near perfect and he was done.

Looked very easy when you have all the right tools and patching material. He works mainly for the used car dealers in the area fixing cars for sale. I have seen a lot of his work and I can not tell which cars he has done.

It is an art form I can not do. I have no patience and no skills.

I have done this. You need the Bumper Repair kit for the plastic bumpers. It flexes over time. For best results. Let it dry for a few days before sanding it down and finishing it
