This increased mpg as well as throttle response.

Now I have a fuel injected (US '87 50 state spec according to the plate) X. Would it make sense to do this as well or does the Jetronic system catch this?

second, does it make sense to fiddle with the air flow meter (spring etc) in order to get more power cheaply?

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Hi there... the stock timing setting on an '81 injected X is 10btdc, I have found on every injected X that I've worked on that there is a noticeable gain in low end power by advancing the initial timing a few degrees. 4 degrees will make an improvement you can feel. Just be sure to listen for "ping" under heavy throttle, and also around 3500rpm and moderate throttle (vacuum advance). As far as the spring in the airflow meter, be careful... make sure you can get it back to stock, and don't move the "gear" more than a few teeth... under normal driving, you won't notice a big difference. The OX sensor controls the mixture unless the car is cold or until the throttle switch signals full throttle (this actually happens about 2/3 throttle). It's possible to get a good idea of the fuel mixture by hooking a digital voltmeter to the lead from the OX sensor and running the car. Under closed loop conditions, it with rapidly cycle between .3V and .7V With the car warmed up and over 2/3 throttle, the car goes into open loop and the mixture is controlled by the wiper in the airflow meter and the the temp sensors. At this point, you want to see approx .85V and it will vary somewhat, but not cycle. If it's much over this, the car is too rich, and if it's much under, then you are too lean.

Is the injected fuel tank smaller? My carbed X has 50 litres, this one only about 40?
