Can't find the spec anywhere for the nuts on top of the cam cover. I know the cam cover bolts are 14 ft/lbs. Is the torque for the nuts the same? Seems a lot for those little studs on the cam cover...
The torque for those nuts isn't important, as we aren't talking about a large or variable load. Just tighten enough them enough that the cover seals properly and they don't vibrate loose.
And, you'd have to consider that almost no "average mechanic/shadetree mechanic" torque wrenches have 7 ft-lbs with their spec range anyway. Some start at 10# and most start at 20#.
I wouldn't trust even my own torque wrench at the extreme ends of its adjustment.
An inch-pound torque wrench would work. But, in the end you have to adjust your technique to what you're working on. A 25 year old M6 stud may not be up to "spec".
