what ignition should I use

I've got my 76 engine apart for a rebuild.

I have a question on what ignition system you folks recommend:

For the street: Do you folks suggest I

1) keep the stock setup (get new points / tune-up)
2) Get a later model Fiat distributor and electronic ignition
3) use something altogether different (suggestions please)

The car is stock and I think I want to keep it close to original, but a reliable ignition system is mandatory

I hate points, myself...

so my choice is #2. Simple, cheap, reliable, easy upgrade. You don't really need an aftermarket solution for a mild street car.

Now if it's the race car you are talking about, that might (might!) be different. If you have stratospheric compression, are zinging the engine to 8500, etc, stock might not be enough.

Stock late-model electronic is the way to go, for simple and effective.
