Yo Vinnie,

That is the brake fluid reservoir. It is a single unit that has two compartments that feed each of the two zero pressure brake hoses that cross from one side of the car to the other.

As you noted the reservoir is on the pass side. The two brake hoses (which if original will be a cloth braided rubber hose) and the one clutch hose (from the smaller reservoir) cross the car in the open space under the cowl at the base of the windshield, which is where the windshield wiper motor and linkage live. They connect up with the brake master cylinder (2 hoses) and the clutch master cylinder (1 hose).

The later model cars had the kind of brake reservoir you have on your car. The early cars had two smaller reservoirs, one for each hose, (almost identical to the clutch reservoir) in place of the single big reservoir.

Unfortunately, the supply of new replacement big reservoirs is next to zero. Most of out parts vendors will sell you two of the smaller clutch reservoirs to take the place of the single big one.

There are alternatives as discussed in this thread: http://xwebforums.com/forum/index.php?threads/3108&highlight=brake+fluid+reservoir

Occasionally you'll see a stainless steel fabricated replacement on eBay from a seller on Australia.
