Cracking on with the project almost finished. As I was examining the frame rail I could see something inside which turned out to be an abandoned mouse home. Anyway, I took this opportunity to use a product I had purchased earlier from Eastwood.
Everything in grey is two part urethane primer waiting to be top coated with red. Anyway, I’ll let the pictures do the talking...
also, I have decided to delete the trunk floor and opted to dress the original removable cover with urethane primer, then base and clear. The bottom of the panel was treated with sprayable asphalt then primer and then base with a layer of heat reflective mat.

Coming along nicely. I have one of those internal frame coating kits but haven't tried it. What did you think of it? Does that long spray wand thing work well?

I think it does. The material seems to leave a nice coating as well. I taped a coat hanger to the long nozzle to make application easier. The spray comes out in four directions to the sides. I find if you turn the nozzle as you apply it does a more thorough job.

Looks good. Easier to see if you insert pics rather than attach as thumbnails, then we can just scroll rather than have to click on the images to view

Much easier to browse this way :)

Side note - don't too many store coupon inserts labelled "Happy Ramadan" down here - what food chain is that from?

Lol!!! Didn’t even notice!
If I had to guess it would be from a store called “no frills”

Just a little bit of colour sanding and buffing to blend but otherwise it went off without a hitch!
It worked!! Hope that helps lookforjoe. :)Next set of pictures will be the assembled finished product!
Mike Looks great. What's your paint code?

As a side note,
I used an aerosol clear blender which worked well but seeing as it was my first time I didn’t know how much to use. So!, for those going the route of spot painting/touch-ups, use sparingly. It left some fine runs which aren’t the end of the world as I intend to cut and buff the blend anyway. But!, my job would’ve been easier had I known.

I will post this product later as well.

Thanks! I was impressed as well. It’s from sherwin Williams. They did a great job matching the colour.
Hi Mike
Was it the Sherwin Williams on Sheldon drive?, also did they make up an aerosol for you or did you use a spray gun. Nice work by the way!

Ok, not sure if the paint code will help at all but here it is. You have to go to the specific Sherwin Williams automotive paint stores. There used to be one in Kitchener but that’s been absorbed by the Hamilton branch off of the south service Rd. The base is a “ready to spray” reduced mix for spray guns and the clear is mixed with a hardener. The original paint code is “Rosso Arancio” but that code doesn’t come up anymore so we matched the colour with the headlight access cover and the chips they had.

Thanks Mike!
I've been looking for a good source for touch paint. I have a Sherwin Williams Automotive Paint store 5 min. from my house.
Mine is also Rosso Arancio Paint Code 171.

Another tip is to let the paint cure fully before trying to tackle any clear runs. I tried the old razor blade trick with one of the small runs and it pitted the paint to the primer. :(

Rosso Arancio sounds good.................I'll try and nail my colour and see if someone will mix ma a touch up can or aerosol can. Holts in the UK used to do a 'dupli-colour spray can range in the late 80's for touch-up jobs.
