I owned a BMW Baveria and one sunny day traded it straight across for a 79 Spider 2000. I liked the spider but it had a lot of miles and I really wanted an X but did'nt want to adopt another neglected toy. So I'm driving down the road and there is my X sitting at the local Buick dealership yep thats right a 1985 Bertone brand new! I wanted it but $12,900 I seem to remember. It was not in the cards. 6 months later 5 X's left on the lot including the red one marked down to $9998. Still too much but after losing a ball joint while driving down the road I knew the spider was going to be needing work and a rollbar soon. 6 month later same road, same dealership, 2 X's left marked down to $7998 including the red one. My wife and I traded the spider in the next day. Now 15 years later I still have my X. It's still stock except for the paint because some uninsured A-hole hit and ran on me. It has 42,000 top off, throttle down miles on it. Runs great looks great and lives in the carport out of the rain while my wifes 2000 Mustang is outside in the elements this has been hotly contested I assure you. My daily driver until recently was a 73 128 coupe with 238,000 miles one it I liked that car too, but road trips with the 1100 are kind of harsh so I sold it to a friend for $100.00 less than I paid seven years ago for the car. I remember seeing one new back in 1974 and went Hmmmmmm!
Didn't buy one until 193 and it was 4 years olf after a friend of mine bought a 1976.
When I told him how much I liked it he told me there was another just down the block... I bought it the next day.
After I put over a 100K on it going to work and back it rested for 7 years until I replaced the water pump and "restified" it.
I get up to Bend usually one a year in July but as ya can see by the responses... there are plenty of X-Heads rite there in your own neighborhood!

I had the only X1/9 that I knew of, anywhere near where I lived. I would see an unknown X maybe once or twice a year (on opposite side of freeway going fast etc) and would be baffled about it. I just knew I could not possibly be the only one (!!) but even FEN back then had only the smallest handful (2 or 3) of X owners, far outnumbered by twin-cammers and other flavors of Fiat/Lancia in the club. I was desparate (DYING) to locate fellow Xheads in my area, and that ball of fire one day prompted me to start SeattleX1/9, which eventually went on to create Xweb and launch these forums!
Now the forums have been passed into the hands of X1/9 Automobili North America (XANA), which itself was sprouted to link the smaller SeaX, NEXT, MAX1/9 and future regional Xhead gangs around the continent. Now these forums have already evolved to become very successful, a treasured resource to many, and are drawing X-loving people in from all over the world
That makes me feel very gratified
All I ever wanted was for something like this place to exist. I never thought I would have to do so much my damn self - I was envisioning being one of the lucky folks who just gets on the web and finds the place here
but I also know beyond any doubt that I cannot take credit for the success, that is due to all the PEOPLE who come here and participate, sharing all that wonderful knowledge, experience, frustration and enthusiasm!

I owned a BMW Baveria and one sunny day traded it straight across for a 79 Spider 2000. I liked the spider but it had a lot of miles and I really wanted an X but did'nt want to adopt another neglected toy. So I'm driving down the road and there is my X sitting at the local Buick dealership yep thats right a 1985 Bertone brand new! I wanted it but $12,900 I seem to remember. It was not in the cards. 6 months later 5 X's left on the lot including the red one marked down to $9998. Still too much but after losing a ball joint while driving down the road I knew the spider was going to be needing work and a rollbar soon. 6 month later same road, same dealership, 2 X's left marked down to $7998 including the red one. My wife and I traded the spider in the next day. Now 15 years later I still have my X. It's still stock except for the paint because some uninsured A-hole hit and ran on me. It has 42,000 top off, throttle down miles on it. Runs great looks great and lives in the carport out of the rain while my wifes 2000 Mustang is outside in the elements this has been hotly contested I assure you. My daily driver until recently was a 73 128 coupe with 238,000 miles one it I liked that car too, but road trips with the 1100 are kind of harsh so I sold it to a friend for $100.00 less than I paid seven years ago for the car. I remember seeing one new back in 1974 and went Hmmmmmm!
Didn't buy one until 193 and it was 4 years olf after a friend of mine bought a 1976.
When I told him how much I liked it he told me there was another just down the block... I bought it the next day.
After I put over a 100K on it going to work and back it rested for 7 years until I replaced the water pump and "restified" it.
I get up to Bend usually one a year in July but as ya can see by the responses... there are plenty of X-Heads rite there in your own neighborhood!

I had the only X1/9 that I knew of, anywhere near where I lived. I would see an unknown X maybe once or twice a year (on opposite side of freeway going fast etc) and would be baffled about it. I just knew I could not possibly be the only one (!!) but even FEN back then had only the smallest handful (2 or 3) of X owners, far outnumbered by twin-cammers and other flavors of Fiat/Lancia in the club. I was desparate (DYING) to locate fellow Xheads in my area, and that ball of fire one day prompted me to start SeattleX1/9, which eventually went on to create Xweb and launch these forums!
Now the forums have been passed into the hands of X1/9 Automobili North America (XANA), which itself was sprouted to link the smaller SeaX, NEXT, MAX1/9 and future regional Xhead gangs around the continent. Now these forums have already evolved to become very successful, a treasured resource to many, and are drawing X-loving people in from all over the world
That makes me feel very gratified
