How, by having a difference of opinion? I have owned an X in the past. I own an X now. I read this board. My relationship with the car is a love/hate one. However, on this board one is only allowed to love the car. Mentioning its flaws gets you banned. It is called censorship.

There are not many Xweb members here and if you look at the data there is very little if any traffic. It is constantly asked that donations be given to keep this site up and running. I was just at the MWB event. If you look who most of the attendees and owner are they are old white men in their 60's with grey hair who a bulk weigh well over 300lbs and can't even fit in the car. I don't mean that as an insult. It was just what I saw. I hardly saw any young X1/9 enthusiasts.

I have also posted things on X1/9 that I have found that got many likes. Like the out of car engine running youtube and also the recent interview on youtube. Just like in high school or current workplace there is always one person who someone may dislike and they bully and pile on because of a difference of opinion.

JimD, I have also contacted the owner of this website was well. There have been a lot of complaints about you in the past. You need to go.

.

You continue to use the phrase "I Don't mean that as an insult", when in fact your inflection and assumptions are exactly that. I am not sure why you feel it is important to tell everyone they are wrong, or have made bad decisions, or aren't being realistic, or etc, but frankly, many of us DO take your comments as insults. If you do not like this forum, no one is expecting you to stay on here. If you don't like the people or decisions that others make, then you can keep your criticisms (even if they are lightly masked as observations) to yourself. But for some twisted reason, you feel the need to troll and stay negative. i.e. the comment about the MWB event.

What is your goal? Did your momma not hug you enough as a child? You should maybe rethink your reason for being on this forum.

I think the amount of traffic on the site is proportional to the number of exxies still on the road. There aren't many. XWeb is a niche site for a niche car.

Regarding your remark about old fat gray-haired white guys, that describes the majority of the collector car hobby---just go to any local car show for corroboration. Most of these old fat gray haired white guys have the car they have now because it was the car they had when they weren't old, fat, and gray-haired! :)

I have been here since 2007 and the XWeb vibe generally has been excellent. Compared to your typical internet forum, many of the folks here seem to known each other outside of XWeb, and that has resulted in a very cozy, clubby feel, which has great benefit. But as is human nature, cozy-clubby is insular and may not react positively to alternate viewpoints. I appreciate and consider RJH's posts, even if they are not always "cheerleader" posts. I would encourage XWeb members to be a little more tolerant in that regard.

As far as who's gotta go and who's gonna stay, that's something beyond my pay grade.

Ammm take it easy, both (sides) of You .

It’s just normal that are different opinions, about everything. Sometimes opinion contains offensive words, that the person can see only it’s spelled, or maybe also not after that.

Don’t see reason,yet :D , to ban someone. Maybe haven’t seen all.

These kind of discussions are reason why forums are being left

Here we go - all pile on. Well done JimD.
Do you really think that Jim is the issue, here? Come on, man. You're clearly upset about something or someone and you are trolling. It isn't that you have a different opinion, it's that you are looking to create trouble. Just take a step back and reconsider the path you are on. It can't be an enjoyable one for you.

People generally post insulting comments in order to gleam a response.

When it's clear someone is trolling, repeatedly responding to them just increases their motivation to continue to troll.

Just flag posts you suspect are troll comments and let the moderators figure it out - otherwise threads get derailed. That's their goal.

You might want to consider WHY people "pile on" with JimD. And I think you have a pretty good clue if you are expecting them to.

Pete

RJH, interesting that you "liked" this post. I was siding with Jim. I was also trying to be somewhat subtle in saying that you come here to troll, and intentionally. I can only take your "like" as acknowledgement that you know what you are doing.

Pete

The constant negativity does remind me of the fellow who used to be on XWeb, who would latch onto any thread where the subject of replacing the mechanical speedometer in our X1/9s with an electronic one came up. That's a subject that happens to be a personal interest of mine, so I kept bumping into his vitrol while trying to read about other people's ideas. The way he carried on, defending mechanical speedometers, and denigrating electronic / computerized alternatives, one would almost think he must have had tons of stock in some old mechanical speedometer manufacturer, and was deathly afraid the old technology would be superseded and replaced, and wipe out his retirement nest-egg. That's at least the weird thought that popped into my head. All we wanted to do was talk about cool electronic speedometers -- even cooler if it retains stock appearance! We didn't really want to be told we were idiots for exploring the possibilities. I'm sure a few of us are tinkering on electronic speedo conversions even now. I am, but more quietly, courtesy of a certain kill-joy's efforts over seven years ago.
