A.R.E. Roosevelt wheels - 13

Retiring in a year and moving to Somerset, KY.... in the woods. Started a massive clean-out in my garage and metal building, as I have way too much stuff! I bought these about 10 years ago for one of my Spiders, and never used them. 13-inch rims with 4x98 pattern. Pretty cool-looking wheels. Really don't want to ship them, but I guess it could be an option if buyer pays freight. Asking $300 for the set. Pick up in Mt. Olive, IL, or I may be able to deliver to some areas, depending on my work route. Located midway between St. Louis, MO and Springfield, IL.

Thanks for posting these. Wheel width is measured inside to inside. Your tape measure shows outside to outside. Guessing: Are these 4 1/2 or 5"?
What is the backspace dimension?

I've researched these online, and this is the info I consistently come up with: "4x98 bolt pattern, 13 x 5" in width, hub-centric center with 103mm of backspace." They do require special bolts, which is a shouldered bolt... not tapered. I do not have the bolts.

Those bolt holes almost look like they use MAG style bolts. Are the holes 11/16"? If yes, they could work. Only problem is finding MAG bolts in M12x1.25.

Some text I copied from Autoricambi.com a few years ago:

"Set of 4 lug bolts for early 1970s US-made wheels, like the American Racing Libre - Shank diameter is 0.615", smaller than more common lug bolts
Total length 2.33" (59mm), length of threaded part is 1.22" (31mm). Washer outside diameter is 1" (25.4mm)"

I have a set of these wheels but the lug bolt issue made me never get around to using them. I scarfed this text in case I ever decided to find a friendly lathe operator.

I had a set turned from a tapered seat set. A machinist owed me a favor.

I have a set of Mag shoulder bolts (Brand new with washer) and stud for them. Was going to use them with some mag wheels until one of the wheels exploded while being filed. So I no longer need them. Let me know if anyone is interested and I can provide measurements.

Please note that American Racing Libra wheels are not the same as the offered Roosevelt wheels. As Carl has pointed out, Roosevelt wheels take a shouldered mag style nut of a size that is now very hard to find.

dllubin, how many of the regular size alloy wheel shouldered mag nuts do you need in 12x1.25 mm? Looks like I currently have more than a car's worth new, not to mention used choices. I also stock the special washer, and the threaded stud..

Chris, up until a few months ago I was searching for at least one MAG bolt to replace one that got mangled by a tire jockey with an impact wrench. I searched all over for them with no luck. I was ready to convert to studs but the right length I needed was in short supply. Fortunately, an XWeb member sent me a couple of spares he had (Thanks Mike).

The set I bought many many years ago came wit tapered wheel bolts and I didn't realize that it took shanked bolts. Finally realized that (I had never dealt with shank wheel bolts before) and then found the standard mag wheel shank bolts did not fit. Then paid good money to have the wheels converted to tapered wheel bolt seats. Lot of work, lot of money but those wheels look amazing. And yes they are 5" wide.

Not being a smart ass when I asked about the wheel bolts. Most of these wheels are sold without them. Just don't want buyer and seller having a bad experience over this issue.

There was a Spider guy named Ken here in STL that used to press steel tapered adapters into Roosevelt's. He usually had a whole shelf of client wheels.

He was the fearless leader of the local Fiat group. The group faded after Ken passed.
