Problem for US based owners of this engine is getting to the parts bin.. The nice go fast bits were never officially imported to the US making performance parts picking difficult. Not to say it cannot be done, it's just more difficult and expensive mostly due to shipping and etc..

BTW, Russ Mc Bride <sp?> installed one of these 1600cc twin cam engines into an X1/9.. it sold on ebay years ago and I'm curious where it is these days.

This FIAT 1600cc twin cam was imported by FIAT North America as a evaluation engine.. When FINA closed, Russ ended up with the engine..

I mean 30 years of R&D on the same engine, there's got to be some sweet combos out there.

I know that boring and stroking is an old muscle car trick (ie. 383 stroker, 350 with 400 crank) and boost is what my tuner brother swears by, but theres got to be some neat tricks that can be done with an engine with a 30 year parts bin.
