Project Mutant: Long time, no see.
Mounted the doors, rear trunk, and engine cover. Tomorrow, I will work on filling in the tow-points on the rear of the car, and finish installing the front and rear hood hold-downs.
Started the beast and it would start and run for a very short time. Then, got it running a bit more, and it ran extremely rich (black smoke from the tailpipe). Opened the air flow meter box, and did some adjustment. Determined that there was some corrosion on the micro-switch that prevented the fuel pump from engaging. Fixed that. Adjusted the fuel delivery setting inside the box, and Voila... Now it starts, runs, idles, and revs in a very happy manner. No more black smoke, and the fuel pressure is steady and correct.
Final steps before getting it painted will be changing the front running/turn lights to something more stylish, which I already have, and coming up with a grill-surround for the new grill material. I have NO idea what I am going to do to make the grill area look appropriate to the rest of the car.
Although, I may tackle stuffing the wiring back where it belongs first. Currently looks like a world war silly string fight took place in the interior with miles of multi-colored wires in and around the passenger footwell that need to be put in their place.
I saw someone on Facebook who has a purple X with black stripes. Did not get to see enough of a picture to determine exactly what it looks like. Wait and see.
SO thankful for the doctor that operated on my knee. For over a year I have been telling my doctors that I was in pain. Apparently, not in ENOUGH pain for them to warrant doing anything about it. After the surgeon removed a slice of the medial meniscus, I am once again pain free. So much easier to work on a car when you are not hampered by tears of pain.
