Stereo System Options

The first radio I installed was an online chinese special. I liked the look but it had no oomph. The seocnd one is a JVC which ticks all the boxes for my needs.

LOL. I am putting almost the same radio in my lotus today. $33 bucks with wired car play. I cant hear my self think in it so I dont care about sound quality but running Waze on it will be nice. The X gets the good sound system.

Finally installed a new radio. All I really care about is basic radio and a Bluetooth phone connection. I was trying to retain an original look and didn’t want to cut panels and rewire speakers anywhere. As you can see, I took out the old AM radio and single speaker. I removed the old extended housing and flush mounted a simple radio. I enlarged the single speaker hole behind the grill, and mounted a pair of speakers. They are bolted together, nestled in pipe insulation and the back of the speaker magnets stick to the frunk wall. I also installed a new, pillar-mounted antennae. I wired it all up and it works!

My car is not on the road, yet so time will tell if this basic approach holds up.

Definitely much nicer mounted flat without that huge protruding "add-on" box. ;) To me your version looks more "factory" than the stock one did. :)
