The Gandini Designed Cars Picture Thread

Wanted to get a thread going that shows some of Marcello Gandini's other designs. Try to post as much explanation as you can with the photographs.

Starting this one off with the Bertone Carabo. This is THE car that ushered in the whole 'wedge' era of cars. This car was based on the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, which was a mid engined V8. It was the first car to have the guillotine doors that would later show up on, of course, the Countache, Diablo, etc. This car was done two years after the Miura, so it predates the other wedge cars by at least a few years.

Carabo means "beetle" in Italian and not that the green coloration and irradescent shades are to make it look like one of those green beetles, don't know why.

These pictures are quite impressive:

The Bertone Lamborghini Marzal concept car was Gandini's second project at Bertone
Son of an orchestra conductor, therefore having the genes of an artist, Marcello Gandini was born on August 26, 1938. This was apparently a good year for the future of Italian car design because, coincidentally or not, Gandini is just 19 days younger than Giorgetto Giugiaro.

the EB110's most controversial feature though was not its awe-inspiring performance but bodywork that divided opinion and instantly became something you either loved or hated. Penned by Marcello Gandini who had famously been responsible for Lamborghini's Miura, Countach and Diablo

Marzal - Espada

Great video about the Marzal.

Great call on the Marzal.

This car has an additional connection to the X besides Gandini. Gianpalo Dallara was the chief engineer on this car before leaving to go to De Tomaso.

The Marzal was just a show car at first, but they developed it into the Espada, a four seater, and minus the "gull-wing" doors. It was power by a rear engined V6 that was basically half of a Miura V12.

Awesome gallery. All the best Italian wedge concepts in one place! (with the exception of the Maserati boomerang, but that's a Giugiaro design) Gotta love the Lambo Bravo, wish they had made that one, the Countach would have had a stunning little brother.
