$70 to make this?

Nice car!

Well In materials... But after all is said and done He can ask what ever he wants because of the time involved. But what ever that price. I am first in Line....:D:eek:mg:

Took a bit of editing, but here are the thumbies. You need to use the HTMl in the box labeled "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended ".

Nice work and one heck of a car! Very envious indeed. I am sure no one will want to race you while driving that. I know the local gendarmes will just ignore this ultra sleeper as you silently drive by...

I like it... I'm jelous... now i need one. lol

you should let us know if you make them for sale

Wing fabrication process

wing itself was made out 1mm aluminum sheet with wood cores and filled with polyurethane foam.
supports were made with fiberglass in 4 pieces with square aluminum tubing reinforcement inserts and bolts.

How much research was put into the shape of the wing?

To me this wing looks to be backwards and may actually produce lift, as the top surface area appears to be larger then the bottom surface area. This could be very dangerous.

I would honestly not drive with that wing like that.

here is my logic behind what I see. I am not expert, just pointing out observations based on what little I do know on the topic.

Very nice looking car, lots of time there. Nice fabrication too

...To me this wing looks to be backwards and may actually produce lift, as the top surface area appears to be larger then the bottom surface area. This could be very dangerous. ...

I concur with the shaping being a little unconventional, but the downforce / lift generated also depends on the angle of attach. You can set this wing to generate downforce with a steeper angle, you may pay more of a penalty in drag than with the inverted wing design, but I'm not an aerodynamicist

If I understand correctly.... this wind was never used for downforce or upforce on a Dallara. It was used more like a diffuser to clean up the airflow coming off the back of the targe bar roof area and not allow a low pressure spot right above where the engine lid is. But I could be wrond too....

What is the effect of this low pressure spot? does it disturb engine air flow or does it just keep the car from going faster?:hmm2:

I don't believe that they would design such a big wing to do only that. The wing seems purposely placed where it could get a stream of clean air and out of the turbulence of the low pressure spot your talking about.

I think he was trying to make this shape, but misread it a bit.

Its hard to see, but the flatter area is on top, and the bottom does not flatten out and has more surface area due to its continuous curve.

It could effect both of those Jeff.

The main problem is that it causes drag and lift.

I want to say it had adverse effects at high speed areodynamically that would keep it from going faster. But.... I can't quite remember. I do remember this being a topic on the oldN54 site probably about 5-6 years ago. Maybe it's in the archives.

And it looks like i need to slow down on my typing when I'm at work so i don't mis-type any more... but I don't get caught on the internet. :)
